Your Clara number doesn’t have to sit behind call forwarding. You can use it as your business number: put it on your website, your Google Business Profile, your van, your business cards, and Clara answers every call to it, 24/7.
This works well if you want to keep your personal number private, you’re starting a business and don’t have a separate number yet, or you’re adding a side business and want its calls kept apart from everything else.
How to set it up
- Open Clara and go to Settings → Call Handling, then tap your Clara Number to copy it
- Put that number wherever customers find you: website, ads, directories, signage
- That’s it. There’s no forwarding to configure, calls to your Clara number always reach Clara
What callers experience
Callers dial your Clara number and Clara answers with your business greeting, exactly as it would for a forwarded call. Clara asks your questions, captures the caller’s details, and sends you a summary. Callers don’t see or hear anything different from any other business line.
Calling and texting from your number
- Texting: you can text with customers from your Clara number in the app, and Clara can send automatic follow-up texts after calls
- Calling back: you can return calls through the app, so you don’t need to expose your personal number
- Caller ID: on the Pro plan you can configure which number shows when you make outbound calls
Things to know
- Keep your subscription active. If you cancel, your Clara number is held for one week and then released. If it’s printed on your van, talk to support before cancelling
- You can combine both modes. Many businesses forward their long-standing main number AND advertise the Clara number for a specific campaign or service line
- Emergency calls: your Clara number is for your customers. Keep a regular phone line available for emergency services
